Vienna Reed Quintet
The Vienna Reed Quintet represents a premiere in the Austrian chamber music scene!
- 2015
- Austria
With Heri Choi on the oboe, Heinz-Peter Linshalm on the clarinet, Alfred Reiter-Wuschko on the saxophone, Petra Stump-Linshalm on the bass clarinet, and Marcelo Padilla on the bassoon, five strong musical personalities present a fresh and unusual wind ensemble that, for the first time in Austria, combines single and double reed instruments into a Reed Quintet.
The members of the ensemble have known each other since their concert studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Since then, they have not only gained many years of experience with the Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna, the Vienna Philharmonic, the Klangforum Wien, Concentus Musicus, and the Stockhausen Ensemble but are also regularly at home in various music genres. In addition to classical music, they excel in contemporary music, early music, chamber music, improvisation, composition, sound direction, and sound design.
Their enthusiasm for a new and unique sound, which can be characterized as both homogeneous and multifaceted, as well as their boundless joy in making music together, brought the musicians together.
In addition to its rich sound diversity, the Vienna Reed Quintet stands out with an extraordinary repertoire. Through thematically convincing and sensual programs (ranging from Baroque music to Classical and Romantic music to the 21st century), brilliant arrangements, and new concert formats, the ensemble aims to create new listening experiences.
The motto is: "Music should enchant, be brought to life in the timbres of today at the highest musical level, and allow the audience to discover new facets of understanding and musical experience."
Opportunities to hear the Vienna Reed Quintet live have been provided by performances at venues such as the Musikverein Wien, Wiener Konzerthaus, MuTh Wien, Festival 4020 Linz, montforter zwischentöne, and Carinthischer Sommer.
"Vienna Reed Quintet sets new standards with a highly distinctive lineup."
Milan Turkovic
"...Besides the refined musicality of this ensemble, the most impressive element is its perfect blend at all times. Dynamics, phrasing, articulation, and other stylistic features are all meticulously matched within a multi-layered homogeneity. Considering the different playing tendencies and traditions for each instrument, one can appreciate the musicality and skill level of the ensemble members creating a shared musical vision."
