International Reed Quintet Network
In 1985, the five reed players of Calefax formed the Reed Quintet. At the time it was a completely new genre in music history, with an instrumentation of saxophone, oboe, clarinet, bass clarinet and bassoon. Since then, more than 50 reed quintets have been founded all over the world.
With the International Reed Quintet Network, Calefax wants to unite these reed quintets. The platform serves as a place to present and highlight the newest and best reed quintets, to share their missions and stories. The platform also offers a large database to find and download reed quintet arrangements and original compositions for and by musicians from all over the world.
